Another warm weekend day with temperatures climbing into the 60s, potentially breaking records. The week ahead remains well above average, with a brief cooldown on Tuesday as a cold front moves through. A soaking rain arrives Friday with another spring storm.

Our early March thaw continues with temperatures soaring into the 60s for Sunday and even warmer mid-60s on Monday. Some high clouds will drift in from the west, but mostly sunny skies will dominate as the weekend comes to a close.

Sunday's record high of 62 degrees was set in 2021, while St. Cloud's record high stands at 61 degrees, set in both 2021 and 1911.

Monday's record high stands at 66 degrees, set in 2015 and 2012, while St. Cloud's record is 61 degrees, set in 2015.

A High Wind Watch goes into effect Monday afternoon through Monday evening for northwestern counties bordering North Dakota. Strong northwest winds will howl at 30-40 mph sustained, with gusts exceeding 50 mph.

Accompanying these strong winds, a clipper system will track along the international border, bringing a light mix of rain and snow to northwestern and northern Minnesota. A cold front will briefly drop temperatures on Tuesday, with highs returning to near seasonal averages in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Following Tuesday’s brief cooldown, temperatures will rebound to the 50s on Wednesday, then climb into the 60s for Thursday and Friday.

Our late-week spring storm system remains on track, with much of the state in the warm sector. Southern Minnesota could see thunderstorms, offering a preview of the spring weather ahead.
