Storms start to move out of Minnesota, continue for western Wisconsin

Easter Sunday is shaping up to be a nice day overall. Rain arrives from the south this afternoon and evening, with rain chances in the Twin Cities hiking up after about 6 pm. That leaves plenty of time for dry egg hunts.

We'll otherwise have increasing cloud cover with highs generally in the 50s. It'll be the warmest in Northwest Minnesota. That part of the region evades this round of rain and keeps elevated fire weather risks today.

In terms of rain accumulation, the below map accounts for both the Sunday to Monday system and a second shot of showers Monday night into Tuesday. Most of the moisture will come from the first round, which doesn’t reach northwestern communities. Around a half to three-quarters of an inch is expected in the Twin Cities with another tenth of an inch or so from the second round. The highest amounts will be in Southeast Minnesota and West Wisconsin.

Snow will mix in overnight in northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. If anyone picks up over an inch of snow, it should be locally along Lake Superior's South Shore.

Rain and snow exits to the east through the morning on Monday with highs staying in the 40s for communities closer to the departing system. Temps rise into the 60s looking west with clearing skies.

Tuesday is rather seasonable with mostly cloudy skies and showers tapering off in the morning and afternoon.

Wednesday with temperatures climbing near 70 for the Metro and south. That looks to be the best day of the week for outdoor projects.

Yet another system brings rain chances Wednesday night through Thursday night and cools us off a bit.

If we take a peek out into next weekend, we should shift into a drier and warmer stretch.
