Red flag warnings blanket nearly the entire state on Mother’s Day, with critical fire weather conditions expected to persist through Tuesday. Temperatures will soar into the 80s and 90s, with record highs possible in several locations.

Mild overnight lows are expected Saturday night, with temperatures dipping into the mid to upper 50s, and even low 60s across parts of western Minnesota. Cooler conditions are likely along the North Shore, where lows will fall into the upper 30s to 40s.

Almost the entire state of Minnesota is under a red flag warning Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., driven by hot temperatures, low relative humidity, and breezy southerly winds.

A fire weather watch remains in effect for Monday and will likely be upgraded to a red flag warning as conditions continue. 

Winds will intensify out of the south on Sunday, with gusts over 30 mph—and potentially reaching 40 mph in the western parts of the state.

These hot temperatures are expected to persist through at least Wednesday, before a shift in the upper-level air pattern brings some relief and our next shot at some precipitation!
