The brief clearing we saw on Sunday will quickly give way to increasing clouds as our next weather system moves in from the Rockies.

Our next weather system will track to the south, bringing soaking rains to the western and southern parts of the state. Showers and a few rumbles of thunder will begin Monday morning in the southwestern part of the state, gradually moving east and reaching the metro area by Monday night.

Tuesday will bring widespread, all-day rain to the southern half of the state. Temperatures will stay cooler in the 50s and 60s through Wednesday, with more seasonal conditions returning by Thursday and Friday.

Rainfall amounts will be heaviest in the western and southern sections, with totals ranging from 1.5 to 2 inches. The cutoff for showers will be sharp with little to no rain expected north of Interstate 94.

Lingering showers will continue into Wednesday, before sunshine and a quieter weather pattern take over for the end of the work week.
