Scattered morning showers Friday; unsettled into the weekend
Scattered showers will taper off Friday morning by midday. More isolated, pop-up showers or thunder are possible again in the afternoon as clouds decrease and some sunshine pops back out.

Air quality is once again an issue for northern Minnesota due to Canadian wildfire smoke. An air quality alert is posted for northern Minnesota through Friday evening.

Afternoon highs Friday will be cooler with the morning showers and clouds, mostly in the low to mid-70s with some areas remaining in the 60s.

More rain chances come this weekend with several quickly moving disturbances. We’ll have isolated to spotty showers or thunder Saturday afternoon. The better chance comes Saturday night into early Sunday as a cool front sweeps through the state.

We remain unsettled in the wake of that cool front Sunday into Monday as cool air aloft settles into the Upper Midwest. We’ll see mostly spotty afternoon, pop-up showers or thunder with some midday sunshine.

Most total rainfall over the next several days will be modest with the heaviest potentially in northern Minnesota where they need the rain most.

Weekend highs will be slightly cooler than normal, especially Sunday behind the cool front. Highs will be mostly in the 70s Saturday with just 60s in northern Minnesota Sunday.

Temperatures are then warming up midweek next week as an upper-level ridge of high pressure builds back into the region.

Highs will be in the 80s from Wednesday into next weekend for much of the state.
