A break from the heat kicks off the work week, but the trade-off for cooler temperatures is a shift to a stormier pattern. A deluge of rain is possible by week’s end, with temperatures trending closer to seasonal levels.

Cooler night ahead

With the passing of a cold front on Monday, nighttime temperatures will drop into the 50s and 60s, with some cooler lows in the low to mid-40s expected across northwest Minnesota. Skies will be mainly clear, except near the cold front in southeastern Minnesota, where some cloudiness may linger with the chance for storms.

Multiple rounds of showers and storms

The end of June is shaping up to be a wet and cool period, as a stalled weather pattern brings multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, mainly to central and southern Minnesota.

There is concern for heavier rainfall totals between 2 and 4 inches, with the potential for training storms to repeatedly impact the same areas, raising the risk of localized flooding.

Temperatures will stay on the cooler side this week due to increased cloud cover and storm activity. Expect highs in the 70s through Thursday, with a return to the 80s by Friday.
