One dead after overnight shooting in Minneapolis

Minneapolis police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one man dead in north Minneapolis.

Police say they responded to multiple 911 calls on a report of gunfire on the 2100 block of Dupont Avenue North around 2:35 a.m.

Responding officers found a man in his 20s with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to North Memorial Health, where he later died.

Police say their initial investigation indicates that two men were riding electric scooters when they heard gunfire. One of the men collapsed and the other man called 911. The shooting is under investigation.

Police Chief Brian O'Hara is calling on the public to come forward with any information they have that might relate to the shooting.
