Another classic summer day with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures; however, severe weather is possible across the state, with storms capable of producing damaging winds and hail.

After a dry Sunday and a quiet start to Monday, storms are expected to move in from the Dakotas Monday afternoon, bringing the potential for damaging winds and hail. 

The Storm Prediction Center has issued an enhanced risk that just clips the far western edge of the state, with a slight risk stretching from Pipestone to Alexandria and northward to Thief River Falls. The remainder of the state falls under a marginal risk for severe weather.

Storms will move eastward from the Dakotas and may organize into clusters. Hail is possible with these cluster-like storms, but if they evolve into a bow echo, strong and damaging winds become the primary threat.

As the storms move east, they will encounter a more stable environment and begin to weaken, according to the latest HRRR (High Resolution Rapid Refresh) model. 

Storms are expected to arrive in western Minnesota between 1 and 3 p.m., move into central areas between 3 and 6 p.m., and reach eastern portions after 8 p.m.
