Hot Monday and Tuesday followed by storms and cooler conditions
It’ll be a hot start to the week for southern Minnesota. Highs Monday will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees while far northwest Minnesota will see highs just in the 70s as a slow-moving frontal boundary starts to make its way south.

An air quality alert remains in effect for northern Minnesota most of Monday due to Canadian wildfire smoke.

Tuesday will again see highs near 90 degrees in southern Minnesota along with muggy dew points in the 60s.

Far northern Minnesota will see some showers and a few thunderstorms Monday, then more storms late Monday night into early Tuesday. More storms will develop along the front late Tuesday that will then track east and south into Tuesday night. There’s a risk of locally heavy rainfall but pinpointing exactly where some spots could see several inches of rain is difficult.

There’s a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) of isolated severe storms Monday into Monday night mainly for northern Minnesota.

There’s a marginal severe risk (level 1 of 5) Tuesday afternoon and evening for some isolated severe storms. Both today and tomorrow the greatest risks are of isolated large hail or a damaging wind gust.

The front continues to slowly move south into Wednesday, combined with an upper level disturbance, generating more rainfall before exiting late Wednesday.

Highs Wednesday and Thursday will be much cooler, mainly in the 70s with some 60s only in northern Minnesota.
Clouds will decrease Thursday giving way to cool sunshine. The next chance of some showers develops late Friday into Friday night.
