A warm holiday weekend with shower chances for parts of Minnesota

Temperatures will be near or slightly above normal for the holiday weekend. There will be changes of showers in portions of the state at times. Much cooler air arrives next week.

Warm with chances of showers at times in portions of the state 

We’ll have another seasonably warm day Friday with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees for some. Northeast Minnesota will be cooler with low 70s there.

We’ll have partly cloudy skies and some lingering instability combined with a nearly-stalled frontal boundary and “sticky” dew points in the low 60s. Look for some isolated to spotty showers possible across central Minnesota into western Wisconsin Friday. A similar scenario will play out Saturday but precipitation will be more isolated.

Weekend temperatures will be warm in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees as well. Saturday will see the chance of more spotty showers in central and western Minnesota, and then Sunday and Labor Day, those chances are higher in western Minnesota. More widespread chances develop Monday night into Tuesday.

Much cooler air comes in behind that system bringing a taste of fall again. Highs by Wednesday and Thursday will be just in the 50s and 60s.

A cool Wednesday will set us up for a chilly Wednesday night. We’ll likely see our coolest temps yet, the coolest since late May. Lows will be in the 30s with widespread frost across northern Minnesota with our first 40s in the Twin Cities since May.
