Much cooler air has settled into the state. The cooler-than-normal temperatures persist into the weekend. We’ll see some lingering spotty showers Wednesday with more showers late Thursday.
Cooler, windy Wednesday with lingering shower chances
Much cooler air has settled into the state Wednesday and will stick around through the weekend. Afternoon highs will range from just the low 50s near the international border to the low to mid-60s in southern Minnesota.
It will be windy as well with northwest winds 10-20 mph.
We’ll have lingering spotty showers, especially across central and northern Minnesota, midday Wednesday into the afternoon. While severe weather isn’t expected, mid-levels of the atmosphere will be cold enough that a few isolated showers could produce small hail. Any left over sprinkles could be in the form of a few snow flakes for far northeast Minnesota early Thursday morning.

Wednesday night will bring our coldest temperatures yet with widespread frost in northern Minnesota and our first 40s in the Twin Cities, at least officially.
High temperatures on Thursday will continue to be cool with increasing clouds again. Highs will range from the 60s south to the low 50s north.
More rain develops Thursday afternoon into Thursday night as a clipper system brings another round of moisture and drags in more cool air with it for Friday and the weekend. There’s a slight chance of seeing some snow flakes in the inland areas of the Arrowhead region late Thursday night into early Friday.
The cool air sticks around through the weekend but it will be sunnier. Highs next week return to the 70s for central and southern Minnesota, back toward seasonable levels.
