The weather is lining up just right this weekend, offering a perfect backdrop to enjoy the beauty of autumn leaves. Above-average temperatures in the 70s and even a few low 80s in southern Minnesota are expected, paired with plenty of sunshine and dry conditions.
Quiet and tranquil weekend ahead
Our enjoyable fall weekends can be few and far between some seasons due to the widely fluctuating weather conditions that come with the seasonal transition. However, this weather pattern is bringing ample sunshine, warm temperatures and dry conditions that are expected to continue into the upcoming weekend.
Surface analysis shows Canadian high pressure settling over the Upper Midwest, bringing clear skies and dry conditions.
High temperatures this weekend are expected to remain above the seasonal normal of around 69 degrees for the Twin Cities. Daytime highs will peak in the upper 60s to mid-70s on Saturday with even warmer temperatures on Sunday reaching the 70s and low 80s in southern Minnesota.
Chasing fall foliage
The latest fall color map from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources shows areas in northern Minnesota reaching 50 to 75 percent peak color. Spots like Lake Bronson State Park, Itasca State Park and Gooseberry Falls State Park are ideal destinations to visit this weekend for vibrant autumn views.
Our pleasant weather is expected to continue its trend into the beginning of October as well.
