It’ll be one of the hottest October weekends ever recorded for the state. Highs will be well into the 80s with some low 90s Friday and Saturday. Cooler air finally arrives Monday.
One of the hottest October weekends on record ahead
Buckle up for a hot couple of days. We’ll have more July-like temperatures for Friday and Saturday, making for one of the hottest October weekends on record. The only other October weekend like this one was 2023 when we set the all-time October temperature record of 92 degrees.
Saturday may be the peak of this latest autumn heat wave. Highs will be close to 90 again for much of southern Minnesota with more sunshine and strong south winds at 15 to 25 mph.
For marathoners, it will be a warm Sunday morning with temperatures in the 70s and dew points in the 50s. Afternoon highs will still be in the low to mid-80s, nearly 20 degrees above normal.

A slowly moving cool front will produce some showers and thunderstorms mostly across northern Minnesota starting late Saturday into Sunday and Sunday night.
More showers will develop Monday ahead of the front, largely southeast of the Twin Cities and much of Minnesota.
The front will bring rainfall to mostly northern Minnesota with almost nothing in southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities.
Finally, cooler air arrives next week. We’ll see highs mostly in the 60s south to 50s north.
Our coldest night yet of the fall season is likely Tuesday night when much of northern Minnesota will see frost.
We may be in for a little warmup again by next weekend. Some forecast models bring back 70s to southern Minnesota.
