Heavy snow and difficult travel expected again, heaviest snow in southern Minnesota

Temperatures are a good 15 to 25 degrees cooler than Sunday and as much as 30 degrees cooler than Saturday. We’ll see the cooler air stick around until later in the week when we warm up again. 

Much cooler, but closer to normal temperatures 

We finally have a more typical airmass in Minnesota this week. Temperatures were in the 40s and 30s early Monday, which is close to normal. Many locations were 50 degrees cooler than just 38 hours ago. 

Look for a mix of clouds and sun Monday with afternoon highs in the 60s across southern Minnesota and just in the 50s north. Normal highs for the date range from the mid-50s north to mid-60s south. 

It’ll be a seasonably chilly night Monday night. Overnight lows will fall into the 40s across southern Minnesota with 30s north. 

We’ll see similar temperatures for Tuesday with brighter skies. There’ll be just a few high clouds with otherwise mostly sunny skies. 

Tuesday night will likely yield the coldest temps yet this season for central and northern Minnesota. We’ll have widespread frost in those areas with a deep freeze on portions of the Iron Range. Lows there will be in the mid to upper 20s only!

Temperatures will be warming up again already later this week into the weekend. We’ll likely see highs in the mid to possibly even upper 70s for the weekend in southern Minnesota. The pattern remains dry with lots of sunshine as well.

Overall temperatures will be above normal after Monday into the start of next week — especially this weekend when readings could be as much as 15 degrees above normal, although not nearly as anomalous and hot as this past weekend.
