Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, and while this isn’t a presidential or midterm election year, it’s still a big deal for local communities across Minnesota. Voters will decide on mayors, city council members, school board seats, ballot questions and more.

In cities like Minneapolis and St. Paul, ranked choice voting is also in play.

Know your rights and deadlines before you vote

• Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

• If you're in line by 8 p.m., you can still vote 

• In towns with fewer than 500 residents, polls may open at 10 a.m. 

• Minnesota offers same-day registration  

• Haven’t mailed in your absentee ballot yet? Bring it to your local election office to ensure it counts
