SNAP by the numbers: What to know about food aid’s impact on Minnesotans

Juba's Supervalu is a small family-owned grocery store that serves Blue Earth, Minn., residents. It's the only full-sized grocery store in the small town of just over 3,100. About 4.5 percent of sales at Juba's are from SNAP dollars spent by recipients. Co-owner and manager Tim Juba says declining customer visits and now reduced benefits may mean harder times for independent grocery stores, which have been experiencing financial stresses since the pandemic.
