BCA returns to Pretti shooting scene to gather evidence

Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension returned Sunday morning to the Minneapolis street where Alex Pretti was shot and killed by federal agents a day earlier.
The BCA said it was blocked from accessing the shooting scene on Saturday to collect evidence, despite having a search warrant giving them authority to do so.
“We did that attempting to have judicial approval to enter this scene to gather evidence,” said BCA Superintendent Drew Evans at a Saturday press conference.
A federal judge later granted a temporary restraining order barring federal officials from destroying or altering evidence related to the shooting of the 37-year-old nurse.

As people gathered at a makeshift memorial on a bitterly cold Sunday, about one dozen BCA agents returned to photograph the site where Pretti died. They asked mourners to step aside so they could work.
“There’s two people now that are gone,” said Steve Kramka, who stopped by the memorial. “They’re dead. It’s just really unbelievable.”
U.S. Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino has said the agent who killed Pretti “feared for his life” and fired defensive shots.
Gov. Tim Walz disagreed.
“I’ve seen the videos from several angles and it’s sickening,” he said.
