The Columbia Heights school district canceled classes Monday after what school officials are calling a “credible threat.”

 to cancel classes was out of an abundance of caution.

Columbia Heights police later said it was a “bomb threat that had been emailed to multiple schools in the district. Due to the timing of the information, it was not possible to fully investigate the threats prior to student arrival, and a decision was made to prioritize the safety of staff and students and cancel school for the day.”

A search of the schools did not turn up any suspicious devices or packages. Classes will resume on Tuesday.

Columbia Heights schools have been in the national spotlight in recent weeks. It’s the district where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos attends school. His detention by federal authorities last month drew national attention. He and his father 

According to Columbia Heights school district officials, four more children from the district are believed to be still in ICE custody in Texas. That includes a high school and elementary student from the district and two other elementary students from the same school as Liam, school district officials said.
