Temperatures will be warmer Friday with widespread 50s. Saturday will be even warmer with a run at 70 degrees or warmer for many in southern Minnesota. Seasonable temperatures return Sunday.
Summerlike heat on our doorstep by Saturday
What an incredible week of weather swings, from winter to nearly summerlike by Saturday for some.
After some patchy fog burns off Friday morning, we’ll see warmer afternoon highs in the 50s for most of central Minnesota and 60s for southern Minnesota. Southwestern Minnesota will be in the 70s again.
The record-breaking heat to the west will nudge closer to us for Saturday. While most of Minnesota won’t break records, it will be quite warm.

Highs will be in the 60s with 70s for many in southern Minnesota with even 80 degrees possible in the state’s far southwestern corner.
If the Twin Cities reaches 70 degrees Saturday, it’ll be about two and a half weeks earlier than normal. April 7 is typically the first 70-degree reading.
Over the last two years, the first 70-degree reading has come early — March 14 last year and March 3 in 2024. The 2024 date of March 3 was the earliest recorded 70-degree reading for the Twin Cities.
Climate Central’s Climate Shift Index, a rapid attribution statistical analysis, shows Saturday’s temperatures are being made 3 to 4 times more likely due to climate change:
A cool front slides through Saturday night, touching off a few rain showers south and perhaps a wintry mix north.
High temperatures Sunday will be more seasonable, mostly in the 40s and 30s.
Overall the pattern is relatively quiet as the jet stream will be mostly riding north of us in southern Canada.
Far northern Minnesota will be the beneficiary of some occasional light, wintry precipitation as clipper systems roll through southern Canada into next week.
