Minnesota’s moose population has stabilized. A new effort seeks to grow their numbers.

Seth Moore, director of natural resources for the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, places a research collar on a young moose and assesses its health in Feb. The work is part of a broader effort that seeks to gain insights into the challenges young moose face in surviving their first winter and becoming successful breeding adults.
