As 2 in 5 college students experience food insecurity, more of them rely on food pantries

The Maverick Food Pantry at MSU Mankato saw an increase in student visits since its opening in 2020. Now, the food pantry serves between 500 to 800 students per week. The increase in visits reflects nationwide trends as 23 percent of college students are experiencing food insecurity, with rising grocery prices and inflation driving up need.
