The warmup continues as 70s return to most of southern Minnesota Tuesday. Wednesday will be windy and even warmer with widespread 80s. Storms are possible again Thursday.
High pressure brings sunshine Tuesday as temps warm even more
The climb upward in temperatures continues. We’ll see widespread highs in the 70s across southern Minnesota Tuesday with an 80-degree reading possible in the southwestern corner of the state.
The Arrowhead and North Shore will be cooler, in the 50s. Look for lots of sun thanks to high pressure and light winds.
It’ll be even warmer Wednesday as temperatures soar into the 80s across southern Minnesota. In the Twin Cities, it’ll be our second this month. We’ll start to see high cirrus clouds increase, filtering the sun some in the afternoon Wednesday but otherwise it’ll be sun-filled again.

Portions of western and southwestern Minnesota could reach 90 degrees. Some of our higher-resolution forecast models are pushing temperatures a bit higher in western areas of the state.
We are eyeing a potentially stormy setup for Thursday. An upper-level low will drop in the west, pushing not just warm air but more humid air north out ahead of it that could help fuel storms late Thursday as the system moves in.
Storms that develop could be strong to severe Thursday. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center already has a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe storms across southern Minnesota Thursday afternoon and evening:
Behind the system, temps will drop once again. We’ll see highs back in the 50s and 60s in southern Minnesota with mostly 40s and some 50s north Friday into the weekend.
