The cool pattern persists for a couple more days with a mix of clouds and sun. Temperatures warm up this weekend, but we’ll also have a few disturbances moving through into Tuesday.
A couple more cool days before a warmer weekend
It’s a cold start Thursday with subfreezing temperatures up north and scattered areas of patchy frost in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Afternoon highs will again be about 10 degrees cooler than normal, mostly in the 50s and 40s.
If you’re looking for totally sunny skies, you’re out of luck. With the cold air lingering aloft, we’ll once again see a pretty even mix of clouds and sun Thursday and Friday.
A few showers are once again possible midday and into Thursday afternoon, especially up north, due to the lingering instability and in central and western Minnesota.

It’ll be another cold night with overnight lows in the 30s and 20s again Thursday night with partly cloudy skies. Areas in the suburbs and beyond should anticipate the possibility of some patchy frost again into Friday morning.
We’re still on track for warmer temperatures this weekend but it won’t be quite 75 or 80 degrees just yet. Rather, we’ll see highs in the 60s for Saturday and Sunday into the start of next week, which is normal for this time of year.
With the northwest flow, we’ll see a few relatively minor, fast-moving, disturbances move through the region Saturday night into Tuesday, bringing a chance for a few showers.
Temperatures remain overall below normal into next week (other than Sunday and Monday) until this upper level low finally moves farther away from Minnesota later next week.
