The chilly air of last week has returned for the next few days. That means cool days and potentially frosty nights for some. Temperatures warm back up this weekend.
Cool days, frosty nights next few days
Cool air has settled into Minnesota once again. We’ll be stuck in a cooler-than-normal pattern until the end of the week.
It’ll be cold overnight with lows falling into the 30s in southern Minnesota and 20s north with partly cloudy skies. Those readings are about 5 to 12 degrees cooler than normal.
Tuesday will start with some sunshine but midday and afternoon clouds will fill in some due to the combination of cold air aloft and strong May sunshine. Highs in the north will be in the 40s and 50s, a good 10 to 20 degrees below normal.
Copy and paste those temperatures for the next few days. Tuesday night looks to be the coldest night with widespread frost outside of the Twin Cities and at least patchy frost within the suburbs.
Temperatures rebound by the weekend to seasonable levels — in the 60s for most of central and southern Minnesota with perhaps 70 degrees by Mother’s Day.
Rain chances will be few and far between with a few spotty showers Thursday and again Sunday from some quickly moving clipper systems.
