House Speaker Lisa Demuth maintained a narrow lead Saturday afternoon in a second round of balloting for the Republican Party’s endorsement for governor.
Demuth led the field with Businessman Kendall Qualls. Demuth has 35.5 percent on the second ballot compared to Quall’s 33.7 percent. It takes 60 percent to win the nomination.
Mike Lindell and Patrick Knight came in third and fourth on the second ballot, respectively.
A third round of balloting will start shortly after the remaining candidates address the delegates for a second time.
