The small northern Minnesota city of Blackduck voted to close down its police department last week. As reported by the Star Tribune, this is part of a larger trend in Minnesota, with 40 police agencies closing around the state since 2016.
MPR News host Clay Masters spoke with Jim Mortenson, the executive director of Law Enforcement Labor Services, Minnesota’s largest public safety labor union, about the cause-and-effect of this trend.
