Photos: Family, community gather to honor Philando Castile, 10 years after his killing

More than 100 family members, friends and community members gathered in Falcon Heights on Monday evening at the Philando Castile Peace Garden.

Castile was killed by a St. Anthony police officer during a traffic stop in 2016. Valerie Castile, Philando’s mother, said at the candlelight vigil that she remembers her son as kind and hardworking. She also urged those present to keep healing and seeking justice.

“We come together today to form new relationships, mend relationships and just come together as human beings, as one,” she said.
