Grammy-winning singer and composer Chris Thile is performing an unconventional new work called “ATTENTION” 8 p.m. at Orchestra Hall on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1 with the Minnesota Orchestra. The piece is based on a story he has shared for years and has now adapted into a musical performance. Thile describes it as a blend of a mandolin concerto and an orchestral song cycle.

He spoke with All Things Considered host Clay Masters soon after arriving in Minneapolis.

MPR News sister station YourClassical is streaming Friday’s concert. Hear the live broadcast at yourclassical.org starting at 8 p.m.
