The next meaningful chance for rain arrives late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, followed by several days of mainly dry weather. Temperatures will remain close to seasonal averages through Wednesday before cooler Canadian air arrives later in the week.

The forecast remains largely unchanged as we head into the new week. After a somewhat active stretch of weather, Minnesota is expected to see a quieter pattern take shape by the middle of the week. 

Monday is shaping up to be a pleasant August day. As high pressure builds south from Canada, humidity levels will gradually decrease, leading to comfortable conditions across much of the state. Afternoon temperatures will reach the low to middle 80s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.

The next opportunity for rain arrives late Monday night and continues into early Tuesday morning. A disturbance moving out of the northern Plains will interact with a warm front across southern Minnesota, leading to the development of showers and thunderstorms. The highest confidence for rainfall remains across southwestern and southern Minnesota. 

A few storms could become strong, and the Storm Prediction Center has placed southern Minnesota under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather. 

After Tuesday morning, a much quieter weather pattern settles into the Upper Midwest. While a few weak disturbances could bring isolated shower chances later in the week, most locations will remain dry and any rainfall amounts appear light.

By Thursday, cooler Canadian air will begin filtering into the region, bringing temperatures below average for mid-August. Highs will settle into the 70s through the end of the week and into next weekend, with overnight lows dropping into the 50s, providing a refreshing taste of late-summer weather.
