Well, you couldn’t really ask for a better forecast for the first two day of the Great Minnesota Get Together. We have lots of sunshine and fairly mild temperatures if you’re going on day one. That’s Thursday, August 27. If you need more information on all things Fair, head 

If you’re an early riser, Friday will be a little cooler in the morning. Both Thursday and Friday are worry-free on the weather, with highs in the lower to middle 80s. You will definitely want some serious SPF sun protection!

Close wasn't quite good enough for many Minnesotans on Tuesday. Despite the cloud-cover, rain was tough to come by after dawn. There are, and will be, some storms in northeastern Minnesota through Tuesday’s late afternoon and evening. Some of these could be on the severe side right before they cross into Lake Superior or Wisconsin. Most of the storm threat is between 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Even with all the clouds across the state, the winds coming out of the south are making it pretty warm and definitely a little more humid. Dew points are in the low-to-middle 60s and the south wind pushes all the way to the Canadian border! How about that! Tuesday night will be on the warmer side, except for Coteau des Prairie, which you can see below as the thin stripe of blue elevation in SW Minnesota. 

Wednesday is a pretty tricky forecast, though most probably won’t notice; it’s a weather geek’s litmus test! We will have clouds throughout eastern Minnesota, given the colder air up high from the upper low. From experience, we’d expect a few colder rain showers to jostle between clouds and sunshine. That will often suppress the high temperature. Now, that said, the weather maps have backed off of that for Wednesday, showing us highs in the lower 80s around the Twin Cities. But I’m not totally convinced we will be that warm! 

As we wrote about above, Thursday and Friday look really pleasant all across the state, not just at the State Fair. The weekend will bring some rain chances, however. Those start late Friday night near Sioux Falls, SD. This could lead to a rainy morning on Saturday, though the weather data is looking drier for the back half of Saturday. 

Rain returns overnight Saturday into Sunday. This looks heavier, which we’re hoping helps with the drought a little bit more. From there, we have off-and-on smaller rain threats into next week. 

The GFS and Euro lunchtime data both bring a powerhouse storm next Friday evening into the following Saturday morning, even though they don’t agree on the exact direction the storms will be heading. That’s September 4th and 5th.

There will continue to be a few more thunderstorms and downpours in the Arrowhead Tuesday evening but the rest of the state is still desperate for rain. Temps will be just above average over the next several days.
