Thursday’s looking fairly warm given the time of the year but the low humidity should feel spectacular. Some rain showers are out in Minnesota’s southwestern corner early Saturday. It’s still a little to be determined if they can spread to other parts of Minnesota.
Cooler heading into the State Fair
Thankfully, we came out of Tuesday’s very brief severe thunderstorm threat relatively unscathed and with many reports of at least an inch of rain around the Arrowhead and Boundary Waters.
Wednesday is cooler with lots of cloud cover pinwheeling around the upper-level low. That’s leading to a few select sprinkles, but the weather trend is certainty favoring a drier setup. Below is the map showing dry weather for most through the end of Friday.

When you have that much blacktop, hundreds of thousands of people, full sunshine, and big engines from rides pumping out heat, well, you can imagine it will be pretty warm.
The maps below showing the highs on Thursday don’t account for all of that. Plan on it being well into the upper 80s by midafternoon at the fairgrounds. Plus, the UV index will be really high, so reapply that sunscreen.

Some rain is also possible early Sunday, but for now it looks to be more of a central Minnesota rain event.

Even with rain chances around the region, it appears we’ll be hotter this weekend. The next best widespread chance of rain after that is next Wednesday into Thursday.
Northern Minnesota could have several rounds of rain chances later into the next week, helping slowly alleviate drought.
