The weather looks lovely for the first two days of the Minnesota State Fair. It will be dry and pleasant Thursday and Friday with temperatures in the 80s.

A beautiful Day 1

Minnesota really could not ask for better weather to open the State Fair. From nearly full sunshine to low humidity and dry conditions, Thursday will be really pleasant. The UV index, however, looks to be really high, so bring the sunscreen.

Expect highs in the mid-80s. The area could see an urban heat island effect making it several degrees warmer around the fair compared to the overall Twin Cities forecast high.

The fairgrounds are likely to be in the 80s for several hours given the blacktop nearby plus all the machines whirring.

Not heading to the State Fair on Opening Day? We are all dry through Friday, as the map below shows. A few rain showers are possible on Saturday morning, with the current forecast holding steady.

Warmer weekend

As always, the first weekend of the fair will be buzzing with people — and it will be hotter.

Your best bet might be to go early or late. The newest weather data shows highs near 90 degrees in the vicinity of the fair. That means it could be well into the 90s when it comes to the urban heat island nearby.

Right now, early next Thursday and possibly the following weekend could be the best chances of rain across the state and at the fairgrounds.
