Fair forecast: From fog to sunburn

Hot south, cool north
Goodness, there are two vastly different temperature setups in Minnesota for Saturday. Much cooler north, much hotter south.

It’s not everyday you can talk about mist, fog, an early fall chill, and intense heat, all within one state. That was the case on Friday and it’s more of what we are expecting on Saturday. For the Great Minnesota Get Together, we’re likely going to kick off the opening with lots of fog, or at least a lower cloud deck - we were somewhere in the middle of both on Friday.

Foggy Saturday morning
We will yet again have some fog to wake up to on Saturday. Around Duluth and the Apostle Islands, it will likely last until noon.

Then, with the state splitting into two halves - much hotter in the southern parts of Minnesota, only in the lower 70s across the northern sections - we will slowly work the sunshine back in. If the rain can burst through a weak cap late Saturday morning, we may get some more clouds spreading towards the Minnesota State Fair.

Western MN rain Saturday
We do expect rain along the Minnesota border with both Dakotas, both Saturday morning and again Sunday afternoon.

That said, the rain will not be affecting the Minnesota State Fair, at least on Saturday. It will be another hot one along Como and Snelling. Sunday morning has a quick potential of rain and the final day of the fair, Labor Day Monday, could bring the best chance of rain of all!
