It’ll feel like summer again Friday with warm, muggy conditions. A cool front will spawn some storms overnight followed by cooler air. We’re also watching for rain potential Monday.
Warm, muggy Friday with storms possible Friday night followed by cooler air
It’ll be even warmer Friday with highs in the mid-80s for much of central and southern Minnesota, making it feel summerlike again. It will also be quite windy with south winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, especially in southwestern Minnesota.
Dew points will also creep up into the 60s Friday into Friday night ahead of the next cool front, making it feel pretty humid, especially by evening.
The cool front will touch off showers and thunderstorms in northwestern Minnesota Friday late afternoon and evening which will then develop and spread eastward overnight.

Forecast models differ on how far south that development occurs, such as in the Twin Cities metro area. Activity will likely be more isolated in the Twin Cities and points south.
There’s a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for some severe storms to develop Friday evening and overnight for a large portion of the state.
Behind the front it’ll be cooler but pleasant and close to normal Saturday. High will range from the 60s north to the mid-70s south.
Sunday will be even cooler with highs in just the 60s pretty much statewide. Those readings are cooler than normal for a change. This will be the coolest air mass since mid-May.
Rain potential into Monday
We’re continuing to watch a system for early next week which could deliver plain old rain late Sunday into Monday. Forecast models have been trending south with the heaviest rainfall in recent runs.
Still, a decent rainfall looks possible for much of southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin. Up to 1 inch and maybe 2 inches could fall in some areas. Most of the rainfall in northern Minnesota comes Friday night and across southern Minnesota on Monday.

Temperatures will continue to be near or just below normal into next week with most highs in the 60s and 70s and additional rain chances late week.
