The Twin Cities Marathon is ready to hit the starting line, and the weather forecast is lacing up right alongside it. Here’s what runners can expect in the Twin Cities for race day.
Race day at a glance
What a start to this Sunday, with mostly clear skies, lighter winds and comfortable conditions for marathon runners and spectators. As runners gather in Minneapolis early Sunday morning temperatures will be around the upper 40s at the starting line. Skies will be mostly clear with west winds 5-10 mph, and dew points sitting in the 40s.
For those arriving well before the starting gun, it may feel a bit chilly with the light west winds and temperatures in the upper 40s.

As runners find their stride and settle into their pace, temperatures will slowly warm through the 50s, with mostly sunny skies and light northwest winds continuing.

But as thousands of runners make their way toward the finish line in St. Paul, conditions will gradually warm up into the lower 60s by the time the race ends, topping out in the mid-60s Sunday afternoon.

Overall, race-day conditions look ideal across the Twin Cities. Runners should prepare for a chilly start, light west-northwest wind and low humidity.
From the starting line in Minneapolis to the finish in St. Paul, the forecast will be along for all 26.2 miles. The runners are ready. The course is ready. And now, the forecast is off and running.
