Waves of rain and clouds
A slowly moving upper-level trough will become cut-off and linger into Thursday.
Rain showers will develop from west to east Monday morning and we’ll have periods of rain on and off into Wednesday and even Thursday with the bulk of the rain falling Monday into Tuesday. The rain will be come in waves in southern Minnesota with steadier rainfall north.

Rainfall totals will be heaviest in northern Minnesota where 2 to 4 inches or more could fall in some spots. Southern Minnesota will see lesser amounts as we get in on the dry slot occasionally just south of the main low track.

Normal November rainfall is just 1.36 inches for the Twin Cities and we could get that in this one system. We’re behind by almost 7 inches of year-to-date rainfall, however.

It will also be quite windy so that rain will be nearly sideways at times. Winds will blow from the south at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph Monday in southwestern Minnesota.

We’ll remain rather mild Monday and Tuesday on the warm side of the system with highs in the 60s across southern Minnesota.

As the upper-low lingers and spins over the region, cooler air will gradually work into the system for mid to late week and the weekend.

By Friday, highs will be mostly in the 40s across the state which is actually right near normal. We’ll see overnight lows in the 30s finally Friday night with 20s north again.

While Friday should be mainly dry, already another system could bring more precipitation over the weekend
