Voters elected sitting Moorhead City Council member Lisa Borgen to become the city’s new mayor.
Borgen faced former Mayor Del Rae Williams and a newcomer, Craig “Whoot” Whaley, who was arrested months before the election for driving under the influence.
Borgen led the pack with 56 percent of the vote. Williams pursued with 33 percent and Whaley trailed with 10 percent.
Borgen has been serving on the City Council representing Ward 3 since 2024. Before that, she served as a Minnesota District Court judge, Clay County attorney and vice president at American Crystal Sugar.
