The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident involving Brooklyn Park police early Sunday morning. Shortly after midnight, an officer responded to a complaint of loud music on the 9600 block of Scott Lane North.
There, the officer found a man in a vehicle with multiple outstanding warrants. When the officer arrested the man, the driver assaulted the officer, according to the sheriff's office.
The officer's gun discharged, but neither the officer nor the driver was struck. Both were taken to a hospital to be evaluated. After the driver was released, he was arrested in connection with assaulting the officer.
