Faced with 20,000 dead nationwide, care homes seek shield from lawsuits
Faced with 20,000 coronavirus deaths and counting, the nation’s nursing homes are pushing back against a potential flood of lawsuits with a sweeping lobbying effort to get states to grant them emergency protection from claims of inadequate care.
The first fatal shooting happened at a convenience store along Maryland Avenue East. The second happened about 10 minutes later, after a vehicle crash near the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and Burns Avenue.
Federal judge dismisses parts of U.S. women's soccer team's lawsuit
A spokesperson for the U.S. Women's National Team says they'll appeal after a judge dismissed parts of their lawsuit seeking compensation equal to that of their male counterparts. Other claims in the lawsuit will go to trial.

A foster mother is charged in Minnesota with killing a young boy in her care. Thirty-five-year-old Kellie Jo Anderson is facing a charge of second -degree murder.
