Flooding in Ill. and Mo. cause delays up and down the Mississippi
Flooding on the Mississippi River is prompting the Army Corps of Engineers to close a nearly two-hundred mile section of the river to barge traffic. The Corps plans to close several locks and dams in Illinois and Missouri beginning Thursday.

The 35W bridge was over-weighted with concrete pavement and construction materials, causing an under-sized gusset plate to fail, according to a study conducted by University of California-Berkeley structural engineering professor Hassan Astaneh.
Lessons from the Rogers tornado
Many residents of Hugo are putting their lives back together a week after a tornado killed a 2-year-old child, destroyed 50 homes and damaged many others in that community. People who live in Rogers, just northwest of the metro, survived a tornado in 2006 and know what rebuilding is like. Bob Collins, the author of Minnesota Public Radio's News Cut blog, has been talking with some of those people in Rogers.
