There aren’t too many TV shows in the 1,000-episode club. Just a few legends like “the Oprah Winfrey Show,” “the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” “Jeopardy,” “Sesame Street” — and now “Minnesota Bound.”

Ron Schara was a popular newspaper outdoors reporter and columnist before he launched a second career in television. He created “Minnesota Bound,” which is an outdoor adventure program — and a multiple Emmy award-winning program at that.

Schara, his trusty black lab, Raven, and the rest of the crew just marked a big milestone in broadcasting: On Nov. 14, episode 1,000 of “Minnesota Bound” hit the airwaves.

Schara sat down with host Cathy Wurzer to talk about his inspirations for the show, his favorite memories and how “Minnesota Bound” almost didn’t get made.
