The best of 2021 with producer Samantha Matsumoto

All this week, we’re listening back to some of the conversations we’ve had on this show over the past year. Associate producer Samantha Matsumoto joined MPR News host Angela Davis to share some of the shows that have stood out to her.  

We take you back to Nobles County, the fastest diversifying county in the state. We traveled there earlier this year to talk to some of the residents about what life is like in their community. And we revisited a conversation about the complicated ways we describe our identities and the politics behind terms like BIPOC, Latinx and people of color. 

We also listen back to an interview about a 2021 law that made Minnesota the first state in the country to stop separating incarcerated mothers from their newborn babies.
