Minnesota based 3M, known for inventing post-it notes and scotch tape, said this week it will stop making so-called “forever chemicals.” 

The chemicals are used for coatings and products that resist heat, oil, stains and water such as Scotchgard stain repellent, Teflon cookware, fast food wrappings and other products. The chemicals are known to build up in our bodies and the environment. 

3M’s announcement comes just one week after an investigative series from the Minnesota Reformer linking the company to devastating health effects and alleging 3M knew its chemicals were harmful for decades.
