After finally finding stable housing, many Minnesotans who once experienced homelessness are now facing uncertainty. 

The Trump administration is changing the way the federal government has long supported people who are homeless.  

Over the past year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development delayed funding and signaled 

plans to shift money away from long-term housing programs

 that provide counseling and other services that help people get back on their feet. 

Instead, more federal money would go toward breaking up homeless encampments and funding short-term shelters with work requirements and mandatory addiction treatment.

, onto friends’ couches or onto the streets — including people who have relied on supportive housing for years.
