A Minnesota startup company is working on cost-effective technology that can fight climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

The company, Carba, has developed a proprietary process to convert plant-based waste material into biochar, a stable material that sequesters carbon and can be buried underground for more than 1,000 years

MPR News chief meteorologist Paul Huttner spoke with Carba cofounder Paul Dauenhauer, a professor in the University of Minnesota’s College of Science and Engineering, about the company and its plans.
