Minnesota does not receive any direct flights from West Africa. Anyone who arrived in the state from that part of the world would have already been screened, in most cases, at least twice.
"Fever screening can be unobtrusive, but let's not have the false impression that this is a tried-and-true method and it's going to keep Ebola out of the United States," says professor Larry Gostin.
The nurse briefly cared for an Ebola patient, a priest who had been in Liberia. Her diagnosis is the first known instance of a transmission of the virus outside of Africa.
