This is typically the awkward time in American politics when a president-elect has to attempt to pull the nation together. Part of the way that's done is to assure the people who didn't vote for a candidate that the person who won isn't really what the candidate presented during a campaign. That's the way these things go, they say. You have to do things to get elected.

The kids of Maple Grove Senior High School did what they could today to fight back against the racist graffiti that was scrawled on the walls of a bathroom yesterday. They lined up to welcome everyone to the school today. And the principal ended his daily announcement with 'I love you all,' I'm told by a parent.
