Bringing in the ice near Ely

We'd probably last less than day living the simple life, but there's still something comforting about the Ice Ball, the annual get-together near Ely where people haul ice out of a pond on Will Steger's estate. It happened on Saturday, as it has every year since 1967.

UMD women’s coach rejects reworked contract

Jen Banford was also the school's director of hockey operations and was among those losing hockey jobs at the school with the dismissal of head coach Shannon Miller, a move which has sparked allegations from Miller suggesting the move had something to do with the fact she's a woman and she's gay.

Whatever happened to the kid with the Target tie?

Yasir Moore, who had a job interview at Chick-Fil-A , stopped into a Target store in Raleigh, North Carolina to pick up a clip-on tie to wear. But Target doesn't sell clip-on ties; they sell real ties. So a couple of Target employees helped him out. They also gave him some job-interview tips.

Super Bowl provided no boost to host city’s image

The boosters in Minneapolis who charmed the NFL into awarding the 2018 Super Bowl to the city say the game will bring a boost to the city's image that you can't buy. But it hasn't happened that way for Glendale, Arizona, the host city of this year's Super Bowl.

Court: Mental health workers immune from suit in suicide case

The court agreed with attorneys for Allina Health, who claim the health care workers at United Hospital who evaluated Kirk Lloyd are granted immunity under Minnesota's Commitment and Treatment Act, reversing a district court ruling.
