Scenes from a debate

I didn't go. I didn't listen. I couldn't. It's the Manning vs. Brady. Amazing first half; just amazing. Not use to seeing the Patriots choke, though.

Tidbits phoned in to me by my plant.

* * *

* MPR wasn't letting signs into the Fitz. Some young lad -- said to be about 14 or 15 -- was relieved of one that said "Assassinate Kennedy." Your parents must be so proud, kid.

* Shortly before they went out in public and beat the heck out of each other on stage, the three candidates were old pals behind stage. Hatch and Pawlenty were queried about their hunting success -- or lack of it.

* Mark Kennedy beat a quick exit after the debate. Most other candidates were ushered to a room to talk to the media. Kennedy took a pass. Man, I wish someone on the Patriots would do that.

Kennedy apparently spoke to the media for 5 minutes afterwards. The Patriots part, however, is factual. They choked.

** Audio of the debates is available on each of the stories I'm pasting up (first AP copy, and then that'll be replaced by the MPR reporter copy), look at the top right column to find it.

And you can find the stories in the award-winning Campaign 2006 site.

** A woman escorted her daughter to the debate. The daughter, apparently needed the credit fror a school class. The woman looked for someone in charge to sign a form stating that her daughter was at the debate. She found someone. Candidate Robert Fitzgerald.

A couple of outside shots sent your way from Laura McCallum
