“Potentially Catastrophic”

When the Hurricane Center uses these words, it's time to get out of the way if you can. Hurricane Felix made landfall as a dangerous Category 5 storm on the northeast corner of Nicaragua this morning with winds of 160 mph.

This is the 2nd category 5 landfall in 2 weeks, and the last one before that was 15 years ago with Hurricane Andrew in 1992. I cannot find another year with 2 Cat 5 storms making landfall.

Here's the latest on Felix from the NHC.

Enjoy summery weather in Minnesota for a few more days. A cold front will remind us the calendar has chaged to September by the end of this week!
